Hebrews 7:25 declares that Jesus is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them. The risen Christ is not absent or inactive. He is alive, present with the Father, and still at work for His people.
Devotional: One of the quiet fears people carry is the fear of being left on their own. We may not always say it that way, but it shows up in all kinds of places. It shows up when life gets hard, and we wonder whether we can carry it. It shows up when we fail and wonder if grace has finally run out. It shows up when the future feels uncertain, and we realize how little control we actually have. Underneath all of that is a question many hearts ask, even if only silently, “Am I really being held?”
Hebrews answers that question with strong and steady hope. Jesus “always lives to intercede.” That means the risen Christ is not only the one who died for us in the past. He is the one who lives for us now. Resurrection is not simply proof that Jesus overcame death once. It means He continues in living, active ministry on behalf of His people. He has not stepped back. He has not lost interest. He has not finished with us.
That matters because many people think of salvation as mostly a past event. We talk about forgiveness, and rightly so. We talk about the cross, and rightly so. But Hebrews reminds us that the living Christ is still involved in our lives right now. He is not distant from our struggles. He is not merely watching from heaven with folded arms. He is interceding. He is representing us before the Father. He is our advocate, our high priest, our living Savior.
There is comfort in that, especially for people who know their own weakness. Some days our prayers are strong and clear. Other days they are little more than sighs. Some days our faith feels steady. Other days it feels worn thin. But our standing with God is not secured by how well we manage ourselves on a given day. It is secured by the living Christ who never stops holding us before the Father.
This also means we are not saved halfway. Hebrews says Jesus is able to save completely. That is a beautiful word. Completely. Not partially. Not temporarily. Not only on the days when we are doing well. His saving work reaches all the way. It reaches guilt, shame, fear, weakness, and all the unfinished places in us that still need grace. The resurrection means Jesus is alive to keep carrying forward the work of redemption in our lives.
So today, if your heart feels tired, take comfort in this: you are not trying to hold yourself together alone. The risen Christ is living, praying, interceding, and holding you fast. The One who came out of the grave did not leave you to figure out the rest by yourself. He lives still, and because He lives, you are not abandoned. You are held by a living Savior.
Action: When anxiety or self-doubt rises today, pause and say this truth aloud, “Jesus always lives to intercede for me.” Let that truth steady your heart.
Prayer: Living Savior, thank You that You did not rise and then leave me to myself. Thank You that You always live to intercede for Your people. When I feel weak, remind me that I am held by Your grace. When I feel uncertain, remind me that You are still at work. Strengthen my faith and help me rest in the truth that I am not abandoned, but held by a living Savior. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Thought for the Day: The risen Christ is not only alive, He is actively holding His people in grace.
A lot of people carry a quiet fear that when life gets hard, they are somehow left to manage it alone. That fear can show up in weariness, in self-doubt, in anxiety about the future, or in the nagging sense that we have to hold everything together by ourselves. Hebrews 7:25 speaks right into that fear with strong comfort. Jesus always lives to intercede for His people. The risen Christ is not distant, inactive, or merely remembered. He is alive and still at work for us.
That means resurrection is not only proof that Jesus overcame death in the past. It means He continues in living, active ministry right now. He is our high priest, our advocate, and our living Savior. He holds His people before the Father with unshakable grace. On days when our prayers feel strong and on days when they barely make it out as a sigh, Christ is still interceding. On days when faith feels steady and on days when it feels worn thin, Christ is still holding us.
